Questionnaire for Young People

How to know if drinking is becoming a problem

Alcoholism is a difficult word to swallow.

However, no one is too young (or old) to have problems with alcohol.

And that's because alcoholism is a disease. A disease that can affect anyone. Young, old, rich, poor, without distinction of ethnicity or color.

It doesn't matter how long you've been drinking or what you drink. What matters is how alcohol affects you.

We've prepared 12 questions to help you decide whether or not you have a drinking problem. The answers are your business and nobody else's.

1. Do you drink because you have problems? To relax?

2. Do you drink when you get angry with others, your friends, or your parents?

3. Do you prefer drinking alone rather than with others?

4. Have your grades started to get worse? Are you making mistakes at work?

5. Have you ever tried to stop drinking or drink less – and failed?

6. Have you ever started drinking in the morning, before going to school or work?

7. Can you empty the glass in one gulp?

8. Have you ever experienced memory lapses because of your drinking habits?

9. Do you lie about your drinking habits?

10. Do you cause trouble when you drink?

11. Do you get drunk when you drink, even when you don't want to?

12. Do you think you impress others by being able to handle alcohol?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, perhaps it’s time to seriously consider the effects alcohol is having on you.
