Santo António dos Cavaleiros, March 19, 2026 – March 19th marks another National AA Day in Portugal, which will be celebrated throughout the country through various initiatives to mark the occasion.
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of recovering alcoholics who maintain their sobriety by sharing experiences, practicing the Twelve Step Program and being willing to help other problem drinkers. It is open to anyone who wants to do something about their drinking problem. In Alcoholics Anonymous, confidentiality and anonymity are maintained for all members.
In Portugal, Alcoholics Anonymous maintains 95 active groups. In addition to meetings in Portuguese, there are also meetings in English, German, and Russian, distributed throughout the mainland and autonomous regions, bringing a message of hope to those still suffering from alcoholism.
