Braga Forum
Santo António dos Cavaleiros, September 30, 2024 - Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A.) will be holding its 2nd International Convention on October 4, 5 and 6 at Fórum Braga, with the theme "The Language of the Heart".
The main highlights of the event's program are:
- Presentation of the book "The Language of the Heart" - translation of the original into European Portuguese (October 4, 12:30 p.m.)
- Panel with Non-Alcoholic Trustees from similar structures (October 5, 10h00)
- “A.A. around the World and in Portugal" exhibition
- Exhibition of literature by Alcoholics Anonymous
- Sharing meetings in Portuguese and English
- Meetings in several languages
It was on June 10, 1935 in Akron, USA, that the first meeting was held in which alcoholics tried to help each other. Since then, the message of hope for recovery from alcoholism has spread, currently reaching more than 180 countries and helping around two million alcoholics, in more than 120,000 groups that meet regularly.
In Portugal, Alcoholics Anonymous has 97 active groups. As well as meetings in Portuguese, there are also meetings in English, German and Russian, spread across the mainland and the Autonomous Regions, bringing a message of hope to the alcoholic who is still suffering.
