Santo António dos Cavaleiros, March 18, 2025 - Tomorrow, March 19, is another National A.A. Day in Portugal, which will be marked throughout the country with various initiatives to celebrate the occasion.
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of recovering alcoholics who maintain their sobriety by sharing experiences, practicing the Twelve Step Program and being willing to help other problem drinkers. It is open to anyone who wants to do something about their drinking problem. In Alcoholics Anonymous, confidentiality and anonymity are maintained for all members.
In Portugal, Alcoholics Anonymous has 97 active groups. As well as meetings in Portuguese, there are also meetings in English, German and Russian, spread across the mainland and the Autonomous Regions, bringing a message of hope to the alcoholic who is still suffering.
The XXVIII National Service Forum was held on March 8 and 9 in Fátima under the theme "Include to Strengthen" and was attended by 208 members.
On April 11, 12 and 13, the XXIX National Conference of A.A. General Services will be held in Fátima. Delegates from all the A.A. groups in Portugal will take part in this annual meeting of the Fellowship, analysing the work done in 2024 and the activities to be developed in 2025 in order to spread the word about the Alcoholics Anonymous Recovery Program.
