The AA Members’ Survey is an initiative approved by our Conference in 1999. Surveys have already been carried out in 1999, 2003, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2021. Five years on, it is now time to update the data.
These surveys aim to inform AA members and the general public about the characteristics of our Fellowship by gathering information such as: What is the average age of respondents? What is the percentage of men and women? What is the length of their sobriety? What are their occupations? What do members say AA brings to their lives? etc., etc.
Because it is important to carry out the Survey now and not let another year go by, three questions (22, 23 and 24) relating to the pandemic were removed from the previous Survey and replaced by questions 14, 23 and 24. The GSB will submit a proposal regarding this change to the 2027 Conference.
Once compiled, the data obtained will be turned into a useful leaflet that can be used for Public Information.
Anonymity will be, as always in these surveys, fully preserved.
Em alternativa poderão descarregar um formulário para imprimir e preencher e ser depois enviado para o Escritório de Serviços Gerais (quer digitalizado e enviado por email para servico@aaportugal.org, quer enviado por correio tradicional). [Formulário em português] [Form in english]
Each member should complete only ONE form., thereby helping to ensure that our survey reflects the current situation as accurately as possible, regardless of the method of response and submission (online form, letter, email or in person).
We suggest that each group appoint a trusted servant who can:
-> Encourage wide-ranging promotion of the survey and boost participation;>
-> Advise members on how to complete the online form, or alternatively, how to download, print, scan and email it to the General Service Office;
-> Post or hand-deliver it to the General Service Office by November 30, 2026.
We are also sending a hard copy of this letter to the Groups’ addresses, along with a form which may be photocopied as required by each Group. This form is intended to be completed by all members and then sent to the General Service Office, whilst ensuring that each Member completes only one form.
The GSB would like to thank in advance all those who take part for their cooperation and is available to assist and clarify any queries or uncertainties regarding this initiative.
